Fiorentina coach Vincenzo Montella admits they tried to sign Daniele de Rossi.

The released Roma icon is now in talks with Boca Juniors.

“Daniele didn't feel ready to play for a different Italian club, even though Fiorentina had been entirely at his disposal.

"I understand that," said Montella.

Released Tottenham striker Fernando Llorente, has also been linked with the Viola.

“He is a strong forward, but I trust the directors and will not comment on individual players."
