Finland coach Markku Kanerva hopes Wales will make it to the European Championship.

The Finns were hammered by Wales in yesterday's 4-1 semifinal.

Wales will now meet Poland in the playoff final next week.

Kanerva said: "I would like to congratulate Wales. They played a good game and deserved to win.

"Of course I'm disappointed because we didn't reach the level I wanted. We got off to a disastrous start in both halves and Wales scored in both periods.

"Hopefully Wales will go all the way to the EC, because they are a good team."
