Filippo Inzaghi has announced he's leaving Benevento.
Inzaghi steps down after Benevento's relegation was confirmed before Sunday's final round of the season.
"We were all together when we won, but I felt alone when we started losing," Inzaghi said at a pres conference.
“They even made an official statement where I was accused not to have watched the final five minutes of the game against Crotone. I can't accept lies, it's essential to grow also after a defeat.
“I am disappointed, my staff and I have been working 10 hours a day," he added.
Does it mean he is leaving?
“Yes, I have my responsibilities, but I leave with my head held high. I wish I will meet Benevento where they deserve to be. Under this ownership, they have everything they need to come back to Serie A soon.
“However, I am not the only one responsible. We've played with our heads held high after winning the Serie B by a lot. Too many things have been underestimated. It's impossible to improve like this.
“Benevento and their fans will always remain in my heart. I am sorry for the way it ended. We gave everything, we should not have conceded that goal against Crotone, but there were some strange incidents in the game against Cagliari."
