FIGC president Tavecchio apologises to European football

FIGC president Carlo Tavecchio has apologised to European football for comments about Italy's immigration policy.

Tavecchio almost lost the FIGC election over his controversial opinion.

It's reported he sent the missive out to all 53 Federations to explain his notorious statements made in a speech.

Those comments prompted many clubs to withdraw their support, but Tavecchio was still elected with 63 per cent of the vote.

Tavecchio is under investigation by UEFA for the comments and therefore it has been decided he won't attend the upcoming committee on racism in football on September 10 and 11.

Instead, Vice-President Maurizio Beretta will represent Italy.
