FIGC president Gabriele Gravina admits they plan to hold talks with Gigi Buffon.

The Juventus great has announced his retirement this week at the age of 45 while under contract with Serie BParma.

Gravina admits the Federcalcio want Buffon involved.

He said, "Gigi is our goal but it doesn't depend only on us. Convincing Gianluca Vialli was difficult, but we managed to have one of the most beautiful people in football.

"Gigi has other characteristics, but he is an icon of world football and his natural planning is to work in the national team. We will do everything to bring him on board, we are working on it and we are at a rather advanced stage."
