FIGC chief Fabbricini: Costacurta met with Mancini

FIGC commissioner Roberto Fabbricini has confirmed Zenit St Petersburg coach Roberto Mancini wants the Italy job.

Fabbricini revealed former Inter Milan coach Mancini held talks over the role this week.

"Yesterday there was a meeting between the sub-commissioner Alessandro Costacurta, Azzurri team manager [Lele] Oriali and Roberto Mancini, who gave his availability to resolve his relationship with Zenit and to be Coach of the national team," Fabbricini told ANSA.

“We agreed that we'll start to talk about figures and details on May 13, at the end of the Russian season.

“I want to say that there is nothing decisive. With Mancini we will clarify that the FIGC has a budget for the role which it does not intend to deviate from, and we'll also need to talk with him about the chain of Azzurri coaches which we would like to make sure are agreed with the future CT."
