Fernando insists Manchester City have the quality to catch Chelsea in the title race.
The reigning champions trail leaders Chelsea by five points after only eight games heading into today's clash with West Ham.
Fernando said: "You look at previous years - the team lost some games but still went on to win the Premier League.
"That's why we have confidence we can do it again.
"We have won three in a row but we also have a lot of room to improve, we've been working hard. Our aim now is to keep winning."
