Fernandes rejects Man Utd captaincy criticism

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has insisted everyone at the club is happy with his position.

The Red Devils made a change in the summer, replacing Harry Maguire with Fernandes as club skipper.

While the squad are said to admire Fernandes, he has received a lot of criticism from ex-players.

"You don't like to be criticized, but I think everyone is the same," he told reporters.

"But at the same time, I have to do what is best for the team. I'm probably not always right, but in my head, at that moment, it's the right choice.

"I think it's quite normal when you play for Manchester United you will be criticized, even when you do well or bad, the right thing or the wrong thing, so I have to deal with that. It's normal since I arrived at the club.

"When the results aren't coming and the performances aren't what everyone expects and my numbers make me a target, not keeping the same numbers with goals and assists is sometimes a problem with criticism.

"Now it's the captaincy, there will always be something but my focus is on the team and staff, everyone who works here day by day and I'm pretty sure they are happy with me and the way I am.

"I'm really open with everyone and nobody until now has had a problem with me. I think everyone here is happy with my leadership."
