Sir Alex Ferguson wants Manchester United to hand Ole Gunnar Solskjaer the permanent job.
The Mirror says legendary former United boss Ferguson has told close friends that United should appoint Solskjaer immediately as opposed to waiting until the end of the season.
Since taking over from Jose Mourinho Solskjaer has won 11 out of his 13 games in charge.
Ferguson, who managed Solskjaer, has spoken to the Norwegian on several occasions since he was appointed and has also regularly visited United's training ground.
In particular, Ferguson is delighted that Solskjaer has overseen a return to United's traditional style of attacking football.
