Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson believes Wayne Rooney could overtake Ryan Giggs' appearance record.
Giggsy will make his 800th appearance for United against Tottenham and Ferguson said: "Yes, Wayne's still a young man. A lot of young players are only just starting their careers at his age.
"What he's achieved so far is quite amazing and he's got the energy, the desire and he will carry on.
"His stamina levels are unquestionable. I'm quite amazed at him sometimes. He's got this desire to be involved all the time. Sometimes that can be costly in the sense he can burn himself out and then for maybe 10 minutes he will drop off a game.
"But then suddenly he explodes again and away he goes again. He's amazing. He never stops.
"He's maturing now. There are very few players with that desire and hunger. It's wonderful to see in a young person."
