Manchester United hero Rio Ferdinand says nobody can write off Portugal from winning the World Cup.

Ferdinand believes the European champions are not amongst the biggest favourites in Russia but with Cristiano Ronaldo in the team, anything is possible.

"I think Ronaldo's chances of winning the World Cup with Portugal are limited," Ferdinand told Goal during the BBC media day.

"The squad won the European Championships, but there was not a fancy team there.

"But when you have a Cristiano Ronaldo in your team, you have always got a chance of doing something in every minute of every game, because he is that good.

"He produces so consistently, both for his club and country, that you cannot ever write off a Portugal team that has Cristiano Ronaldo in it."
