Ferdinand: Liverpool manager Klopp wrong to defend Karius for Spartak goal

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand thinks that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was wrong to defend his keeper Loris Karius following the 1-1 Champions League draw with Spartak Moscow.

The German keeper conceded a free-kick in the game, and Ferdinand thinks that he was at fault for Spartak's goal.

"Klopp is trying to protect him but he can't in this instance," he said on BT Sport.

"If I am in that team, I am turning round and I am fuming, asking 'what's going on?'

"You expect your goalkeeper to save that. It's not in the corner, it's almost middle of the goal.

"That is where the frustration will lie."
