Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has urged fans to lay off teammate Wayne Rooney.

Ferdinand knows Rooney is being hammered after his England red card in Montenegro.

He tweeted: "Wazza will bounce back as per usual don't worry. We are through so let's concentrate on that which is of more importance than any individual"
