Fenerbahce have moved to beat Galatasaray to the signing of AS Roma midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo.

The Italy international has been told he won't play for Roma again this season by management after attempting to engineer a move away over the January market.

With theTurkish window still open until Wednesday night, Zaniolo is in talks with Gala and Fener, says Sky Italia.

Gala are willing to meet Zaniolo's €35m buyout clause and have offered the midfielder a contract worth €15m-a-year plus bonuses.

Fener, meanwhile, have now bettered that contract offer and both Istanbul giants are waiting on Zaniolo's response.

All signs are that Zaniolo will be in Turkey before the Wednesday deadline falls.
