FC Twente coach Steve McClaren is moving for released Derby County midfielder Giles Barnes.

The Mirror says talented Barnes had his contract cancelled with the Rams yesterday after an injury-hit run which also cost him a move to Premier LeagueFulham last season.

However McClaren is a big fan of Barnes's and wants to see him in training before taking him on - and giving him a crack at the Dutch title plus a shot at the Champions League next season.

Barnes's career went astray a couple of years ago after he was tipped for the top. Injuries and form less meant that Derby finally gave up on him and parted company with a settlement yesterday.
