Fatigue certainly playing a part in topsy-turvy end for Bolton

Bolton manager Owen Coyle says the past few results for the club have probably been caused by fatigue at the end of a tough season.

The Trotters were hammered 5-0 by Stoke City in the FA Cup semi-final two weeks ago before bouncing back with a last-gasp 2-1 win over Arsenal at home on Sunday.

They then went to Craven Cottage and were almost unsighted as they fell 3-0 to Fulham but Coyle says results like this are to be expected at this stage of the season.

"There is no doubt, given how hard the players have worked since pre-season, that physical and mental fatigue play a part,'' he said ahead of tomorrow's trip to Blackburn Rovers.

"It absolutely comes in but you have to be strong and give everything you can and recognise there are four games to go, and we have to make sure whoever is asked to play gives everything they can.

"The margins are so fine and when you have that lack of concentration for any given moment you can be punished - it happened the other night at Fulham - so we have to make sure we address that.

"We have to make sure the group we have fit and available give everything they can to win the next game.

"We don't want the season to peter away in the last few weeks after giving everything we have this season.

"We are sitting eighth in the league, having had a great season, and we want to finish it strongly.''
