Sunderland sales manager Mike Farnan says Paolo di Canio has made a positive impact on the club.

Di Canio's appointment has been criticised for his alleged political beliefs.

But Farnan told TMW: "We got him because he is a motivator, one that galvanizes the team. I do not agree with his thoughts, but the choice was oriented only on his skill as a manager.

"I repeat: everyone is happy with his impact on Sunderland."
