'Fantastic' Nagbe breaks Portland Timbers scoring record

Darlington Nagbe broke the Portland Timbers season scoring record for MLS play on the weekend.

The immensely talented 23-year old forward fired the Timbers ahead in the 41st minute of their eventual 2-2 draw with the Vancouver Whitecaps to bring up his ninth goal of the 2013 campaign.

The goal allowed Nagbe to surpass the eight scored by Kenny Cooper in 2011 and prompted praise from teammate Jack Jewsbury.

"He's a fantastic talent and a guy we've counted on a lot this year," Jewsbury said. "He continually threatens that back line and is a guy that continually creates chances for us."

This season, Nagbe has started all 31 of the Timbers' MLS fixtures for a club-record 45 straight league starts.
