Exclusive: Hungary face battle to keep Rossi as Saudi clubs make contact

The Hungarian FA may face a battle to keep hold of national team coach Marco Rossi as Saudi Pro League clubs make their move.

The Italian has established himself as a folk hero in Hungary thanks to the success he has brought to the national team.

And Rossi's exploits have not gone unnoticed beyond Europe, where Saudi Pro League clubs are now making their move.

Tribalfootball.com has been informed by sources close to the former Sampdoria and Eintracht Frankfurt defender that multiple SPL clubs have already made contact "both directly and indirectly" about Rossi's situation and availability.

Rossi, 58, has a contract with the Hungarian FA to 2025. However, he has expressed interest in jumping back into the club game. Indeed, our source tells us a move to Saudi Arabia and the opportunity to work in the SPL would be something he's open to.

Last season, Rossi revealed to Tribalfootball.com: “I think every single professional would like to work in the Premier League. After the Euros campaign I had the chance to speak with two English boards, one from the Championship and one from the Premier, but ultimately I decided to decline because I was convinced that staying here would have been for the best.

"Although it's not automatic that those talks would have resulted in an offer."

Rossi guided Hungary to a 2-0 win over Lithuania last night in their latest Euro 2024 qualifier.
