EXCLUSIVE: Chiellini 'loved battle with Spurs striker Kane; it's what he lives for'

The agent of Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini says he enjoyed his battle with Tottenham striker Harry Kane last week.

Chiellini and Kane clashed in the first-leg of the Champions League round 16 tie which finished 2-2 in Turin.

Davide Lippi says Chiellini loved the prospect of testing himself against Kane on the night. He told Tribalfootball.com: "We have talked about him (Kane) before the match.

"These games are the reason why a champion like Giorgio lives, these games are the reason why it's worth making sacrifices. To play against top players like Harry Kane, to fight ball after ball on the pitch...in the last years, he played two Champions League finals. Juventus did not win, but these games give you everything."

Lippi, like Juve's players and coach Max Allegri, couldn't understand the downbeat reporting of the 2-2 draw by the local Italian press.

He continued: "Media started crying foul for the draw against Tottenham, a strong team. Of course, being caught after going two goals ahead is a lot to digest, but I do agree with Allegri: this is what the Champions League is about.

"PSG has dominated against Real Madrid, but they lost 3-1. This is the Champions League, where top teams can reverse the result in five minutes. Allegri is right not being happy about it, but there is no need to cry foul, also because Juventus played the match without some key players.

"They will play the return leg with the right guts, the right motivation and their qualities. They have great chances to reach the next round. Allegri will have key players like (Paulo) Dybala back. Of course it would have been better to win the match, but they can still do it."
