Exclusive: Agent Sogut not surprised Man City scouting Fenerbahce superkid Arda Guler

Agent Dr Erkut Sogut isn't surprised hearing that Manchester City have posted scouts to watch Fenerbahce whizkid Arda Guler.

While he doesn't manage the teen, Sogut has spoken openly of Guler's potential. The youngster a teammate of Sogut's big name client Mesut Ozil at Fener before the German left for Istanbul Basaksehir at the start of this season.

It's now emerged that City had scouts posted to check on Guler in Turkish Cup action last month against Kasimpasa. Fanatik reporting the City representative left the stadium raving about the 17 year-old's performance. Significantly, the midfielder's contract now has less than 18 months to run.

Asked if City and the Premier League would suit Guler, Sogut, speaking with Tribalfootball.com, joked: “Oh this is a question you need to ask to Guardiola!

"I think Pep is a very successful coach, what he has achieved everywhere, he has been successful year after year, he demands a lot from the players. From a mentality point of view he asks a lot from his players.

"I think that for every player it is an honour to play under Guardiola because they can learn a lot from him and for a young player it is a bigger opportunity to grow in the hands of Guardiola and to learn from him. Even the coaches who learn from him get better."

Guler, who won a first senior cap in November, and Galatasaray winger Kerem Akturkoglu, a client of Sogut's, are part of an exciting new generation of attacking talent now establishing themselves in Turkey. Sogut says it's only a matter of time before both players make the step up to a bigger competition.

He added, “Arda is an amazing talent. I think he is one of the best talents that Turkish football has ever seen. Both Kerem and Arda, they are exceptional players, and Arda is younger than Kerem.

"Kerem is 24 and Arda is about to turn 18, I think he can fit in any team in Europe, he is a very smart player, very calm on the ball, intelligent and I think he is developing as he is getting more minutes and hopefully we can see him in one of the best teams in Europe."
