Ex-West Ham keeper Day: Fit Parker key to survival

Former West Ham United goalkeeper and coach Mervyn Day says Scott Parker is key to their Premier League survival.

Day reckons the club's hopes of Premier League survival rest squarely on the shoulders of the combative midfielder.

"I think the key thing for West Ham is whether Scotty Parker can throw off this virus that he's had," Day told talkSPORT.

"He made a massive effort to play on the weekend and did really well for them. And I actually think he's key to virtually everything that could happen at West Ham this year."
