Roberto di Matteo is eyeing the vacant manager's job at West Bromwich Albion.
The Daily Mail says Sheffield United chairman Kevin McCabe claims Di Matteo wants to succeed Micky Adams at Bramall Lane.
When Di Matteo's name was put to McCabe on Wednesday night, he said the former West Bromwich boss had been "in touch".
The Italian has been out of work since his dismissal by the Baggies earlier this year.
