Ex-VSK teammate: Man Utd defender Lindelof a monster at 15

Djurgardens IF defender Marcus Danielsson has spoken of playing with Victor Lindelof.

Danielsson was with the Manchester United defender at Vasteras SK nine years ago, where Lindelof was playing first team football at the age of 15.

Now Djurgardens captain, Danielsson admits joining Vasteras helped him rediscover his love for the game after a tough spell with Helsingborgs. And he says a teenage Lindelof played a role in him enjoying the sport again.

He told the Lundh podcast on the Fotbollskanalen: "We had a very young team, where Vigge and also some other players came up in the A-team and were very good. We had a lot of fun together. We hung out side by side.

"We had a very successful 2010 where we went up in the Superette. It was a great fun time."

Nine years on, Lindelof is now a World Cup veteran, a Manchester United player and firmly established in manager Ole Gunnar Solsjaer's plans. Indeed, the Sweden international penned a new deal with United last week to 2024.

Despite his former teammate's great career success, Danielsson admits he could not foresee that Lindelof would achieve all that he has.

"Well, not as it has become. But I still saw that he had something extra. He was a physical monster already as a 15-year-old. He was confident with the ball and good with both feet, he had the aerial game and a mind that made him love to train hard and was very serious."

Lindelof would leave Vasteras for Benfica in 2012, just as Danielsson departed for GIF Sundsvall.

"It is great fun to see the development he has had and where he is today. It's fantastic," concluded Danielsson.
