Former Aston Villa winger Tony Morley is confident Marc Albrighton is the man to fill the void left by the departed Ashley Young.
England winger Young yesterday signed a five-year deal with Manchester United for a fee of £16million and Morley feels it was the right choice to get some much-needed funds in as they have an apt replacement ready to go.
"I personally think it's a great move for Villa," he told talkSPORT.
"Whatever the fans say they are going to get £16 million to £20m for him and the chairman Mr [Randy] Lerner has probably had to pay that out this month in compensation for certain managers.
"To be brutally honest the writing was on the wall six months ago. They offered Ashley Young the biggest contract in Villa's history and he turned it down. We're not talking about a couple of hundred quid here, we're talking about tens of thousands of pounds, and he turned it down. I thought then he had made his mind up.
"It's no good keeping a player who is unhappy, he's just not going to perform. And if young Marc Albrighton improves in the next season or so he could well fill Ashley Young's boots out wide."
