Former Aston Villa and England midfielder Lee Hendrie is trialling with Reading.
The midfielder has linked up with the Royals and manager Brian McDermott is keen to give the 33-year-old a chance at the Madejski Stadium.
"We have brought in Lee to have a look at him and he'll probably be in and around the squad for a little while," McDermott told the club's official website.
"I know him from his Aston Villa days, but I watched him playing out wide for Sheffield United and that didn't seem to be his position. I believe he's a player who has got to be in amongst it in the middle of the pitch."
