Former Aston Villa and Manchester City striker Darius Vassell has left his Turkish club Ankaragucu.
The Birmingham Mail says the 29-year-old, the last Villa player to represent England at a World Cup, announced the news on his personal website.
The Brummie admitted he had taken the decision to terminate his contract with the Super Lig outfit with immediate effect after saying that 'financial difficulties have made it difficult for them (the club) to fulfil all of their obligations'.
This ends a turbulent spell for Vassell at Ankaragucu after he arrived at the club last summer following the termination of his contract at Manchester City.
The former Villa Park favourite still intends to stay in Turkish football.
His said: "My love for Turkey has not been affected and I am eager to be a part of an improving Turkcel Super Lig producing performances that will aid, highlight and showcase the potential we have here.
"Representing the Super Lig as an honest and senior professional has been an honour during last season and it can continue to be for future seasons.
"I have done everything possible to remain at this club, I have asked many people for help and I am satisfied that my decision is the right one.''
