Ex-Twente chief Van Halst urges El Ghazi to leave Aston Villa

Former FC Twente chief Jan van Halst believes Anwar el Ghazi needs to leave Aston Villa.

Van Halst says the midfielder would be a regular with Holland if was getting a consistent game at club level.

He said on Ziggo Sport after Villa's defeat to Chelsea: "Do I not get the feeling that El Ghazi wants to leave?

“You would think so, yes. He then played for the Dutch national team during a good period last season. Then we were all surprised that he was not in the squad (for the Euros). Now he threatens to throw a whole period of his career away.

"Maybe another competition is best for him. Such a technical player actually belongs in a more technical competition. Spain or Italy maybe? No, wait: Real Sociedad! Yes, we will call them!"
