Ex-Sunderland, Man City man Reyna over the moon as NYCFC land US midfielder Diskerud

New York City FC sporting director Claudio Reyna was reveling after his club secured the services of Mix Diskerud on Tuesday.

The MLS expansion franchise, who begin play in the USA and Canada's top flight this year, have signed the 24-year old midfielder on a free transfer via the Allocation process after his contract with Norwegian side Rosenborg expired.

In the wake of the big-name arrival, Reyna was in a buoyant mood as he prepares for NYCFC's debut campaign in MLS.

"We couldn't be happier to have Mix coming to play in New York. He's one of the brightest young talents in US soccer and will be a fantastic addition to our Club and to MLS," said the former Sunderland and Manchester City midfielder.

"Mix is a dynamic midfielder who will easily fit into the style we want to play here in New York City. He keeps possession well and gets everyone involved with his passing range.

"I particularly want to thank Paal Diskerud and Pål Remman for working with us and MLS to make this happen."
