Ex-Spurs keeper Pletikosa: Deportivo La Coruna deal a gift from God

Former Tottenham goalkeeper Stipe Pletikosa has signed with Deportivo La Coruna.

The 36 year-old Croatia international has signed with Depor to the end of the season as cover for injured No1 Fabricio.

"I was surprised by the call of Deportivo. I would not like to announce my retirement without having the opportunity to play in a top league, because except at Tottenham, I've always played in Russia and Ukraine, which are good leagues, but not at the level of the Spanish.

"My wish was always to play in a top league and this is a gift of God to come here, to play for Deportivo," he said.

Pletikosa's contract includes a clause which will see it extended a further 12 months if he makes a certain number of appearances.
