Ex-Southampton, Celtic boss Strachan ready for Scotland job

Gordon Strachan has reportedly made it clear that he is prepared to take the reins as manager of the Scotland national team.

The former Coventry City, Southampton, Celtic and Middlesbrough boss has been installed as the early favourite to replace Craig Levein, who was sacked by the Scottish Football Association yesterday, with Record Sport suggesting he is ready to listen to any offers.

Strachan has been out of management since he and Boro parted ways in October 2010 but is keen to get back into the coaching caper by returning to the Scotland setup after making 50 appearances as a midfielder throughout the 1980s and early 1990s.
