Ex-Sampdoria president Ferrero released on house arrest

Former Sampdoria president Massimo Ferrero has been released on house arrest for the Christmas holidays.

Ferrero has spent the past 17 days in jail after being taken into custody on financial mismanagement charges.

He has since resigned as president of Samp, while new buyers are sought.

Ferrero was released from the San Vittore prison in Milan and will return to his house in Rome.

The 70 year-old has been accused of fraudulent bankruptcy regarding four different companies.
