Marc Janko produced a match-winning performance for Sydney FC in the A-League on Saturday night.
The 31-year old Austrian international netted in the 10th and 82nd minutes as the Sky Blues defeated Melbourne City FC 2-1 at AAMI Park which lifted the club to third on the table.
An unmarked Janko headed home Bernie Ibini's cross early on to give Sydney the ascendency before adding a second eight minutes from time when flicking past Andrew Redmayne.
Erik Paartalu pulled one back for City in the 87th minute but the damage had already been done by former Red Bull Salzburg and FC Twente star Janko whose performance impressed his boss Graham Arnold.
"I was very happy with the performance and I thought the hard work and determination we put in was excellent," said Arnold.
"We deserved our win and the way we came together as a team was superb. Everyone put in a performance, particularly in the first half which is something we spoke about.
"Marc Janko came home early (from international duty) to play in this fixture and that decision paid off. He thoroughly deserved his two goals."
