Ex-Roma coach Garcia named Marseille coach

Former Roma coach Rudi Garcia has been named Olympique Marseille coach.

Marseille announced the appointment on Thursday after Roma had released him from his contract.

“AS Roma can confirm that the contracts of Rudi Garcia and his coaching assistants have been terminated by mutual consent," a statement on the Lupi's website announced.

“After arriving at the club in the summer of 2013, the Frenchman went on to spend two-and-a-half years in the Giallorossi dugout - recording 60 wins, 32 draws and 22 defeats in 114 games in charge at the Stadio Olimpico.

“Garcia helped Roma set a record 10 straight wins at the start of the 2013-14 season, a league record, before guiding the team to two consecutive second-place finishes in Serie A.

“He left his post as head coach in January 2016.

“The club would like to wish Garcia and his assistants all the best for future."
