Former Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon claims Sir Alex Ferguson attempted to sell Cristiano Ronaldo to Barcelona. Angered by Real's pursuit of the Portuguese, the then Manchester United manager tried to do a deal with Barca to spite the Madrid giants.

"Sir Alex Ferguson tried to send Cristiano to Barca, but he refused," recalled Calderon to talkSPORT.

"This desire was confirmed when Cristiano Ronaldo told Ferguson that he would only leave Manchester to go to Real Madrid."
