Former Real Madrid midfielder Rafael van der Vaart has taken aim at Thibaut Courtois.

The Belgium goalkeeper hit out at UEFA over the Nations League, insisting the competition has only been designed as a money maker.

Van der Vaart told NOS: "I think it's silly. Then you have six months of vacation.

"You only play football, a club pays you a lot of money… Of course the match schedule is very busy, but we have all been through that.

"Competitions are the most fun there is, they are whining."
