Jonathan Woodgate says Tottenham ace Gareth Bale must learn Spanish if he's to succeed at Real Madrid.
The former Real defender played with Bale at Spurs.
"The first thing Gareth has to do is try to learn the language," said Woodgate to the Mail on Sunday. "I made sure I went to lessons two or three times a week. You have to get in among the players, communicate with them in Spanish - even if you make mistakes. They aren't bothered - it'll put a smile on everyone's face.
"I was nervous giving a speech in Spanish and it did get a few laughs when I used the wrong phrase but it was all part of the experience. I also watched films on Spanish TV to help pick up conversations more easily."
