Former Real Madrid assistant coach Toni Grande has revealed the moment Raul and president Florentino Perez fell out.

It all centred around Fernando Morientes' departure.

Grande recalled: "That was it. I remember perfectly what happened in the Luis II stadium of Monaco. When there was less than an hour to face Feyenoord, with the Super Cup title at stake, Jorge Valdano entered the dressing room and, addressing Vicente (Del Bosque), said: 'Tell Fernando Morientes not to dress because he is going to be transferred. It is an order of the president and there is no turning back'.

"The players shouted into the sky. Above all Raul, who for him Morientes was like a brother. This position of the president was inexplicable, because Fernando could have been on the bench with the substitutes.

"After returning to Madrid, someone informed Florentino of the monumental anger of Raul and the relations between the two were no longer the same."
