Barry Ferguson is being heavily linked with the managerial vacancy at St Mirren.

Sky Sports is of the belief that the former Rangers midfielder is being lined up to replace Danny Lennon whose contract will not be renewed by the Paisley club.

Dumbarton boss Ian Murray is the reported favourite for the role but Ferguson is now believed to be a candidate after finishing the 2013/14 season as interim boss at Blackpool.

The 36-year old ex-Blackburn Rovers, Birmingham City, Seasiders and Scotland man replaced Paul Ince in the Bloomfield Road hotseat in January and led them to safety with a 20th-place finish in England's second tier.
