Ex-PSV, Rangers full-back Numan implores England move Celtic's van Dijk

Arthur Numan has urged Virgil van Dijk to make the move to the Premier League this winter.

Former PSV Eindhoven and Rangers full-back believes the Celtic centre-half is good enough for England's top flight and has implored his fellow countryman to seek a move there in the January transfer window.

"If he gets the chance Virgil should go to England in January or at the end of the season. Over the last two seasons he has proved he is too good for Scottish football," Numan told the Daily Star.

"If you are linked with some clubs in England it's natural you are going to want to move away because you have Celtic in the top league here and who else?

"When a player comes to Scotland you spend a year or two trying to impress.

"But when you're there four years and play Ross County seven times a season it can be hard to motivate yourself. You can stay too long."

23-year old van Dijk has been a star of Scottish football since joining from FC Groningen for £2.6million in June 2013 and has attracted interest from the likes of Arsenal and Sunderland.
