Ex-PSG star Rothen slams Kamara over Aston Villa move

Former PSG star Jerome Rothen has slammed Boubacar Kamara over his decision to move to Aston Villa.

The France U21 midfielder has left Olympique Marseille in a Bosman transfer to Villa.

Rothen told RMC: "I do not understand. The Premier League is the best league in Europe, but it has five or six headliners. Aston Villa are part of the second zone teams.

"Do Aston Villa have star players? No. So they are not going to play the leading roles in the Premier League. I would be surprised if they finish in the top ten teams, so they have very little chance of playing in any European Cup.

"I agree that there was a history of contract extensions with President Eyraud who did nothing and that he holds it against his club. But at the forefront of the sportsman, that has changed! Pablo Longoria knows football, Jorge Sampaoli dreams of it and says of him that he is the essential part of his system.

"An international player will lock himself in a 14th team in the English championship? Kamara will play with Bertrand Traoré and Morgan Sanson? Sportingly, it will be difficult to turn a corner at Aston Villa."
