Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe believes the 1-1 draw was a fair result against his former club Portsmouth.

Defoe's return to White Hart Lane came with the equalising goal but he remained loyal to both his former and new clubs when analysing the match.

"Both sides had chances so I suppose it's a fair result," he explained.

"David (James) is a fantastic goalkeeper and kept them in it at times. Hopefully I can get a few more goals and keep us moving up the table.

"I enjoyed the game today and it would have been nice if we could have won."
