Former Middlesbrough boss Gareth Southgate is a clear favourite for the FA's newly created technical director's role.
The Daily Mail says the FA are starting to interview a shortlist of five or six for the post of technical director.
But the in-house Southgate is such a strong contender it renders the selection process pointless.
