Ex-Middlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka in frame for Leeds job

Former Middlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka is being linked with the manager's job at Leeds United.

Monk has now emerged as a leading candidate to fill the hot-seat at Karanka's old club Middlesbrough.

Monk yesterday walked out of Elland Road after 11 months in charge after being left undermined by new Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani's plans.

The Daily Star says Victor Orta has been lined up as the Yorkshire club's technical director following his axing as relegated Middlesbrough's head of recruitment earlier this week.

Karanka and fellow Spaniard Orta worked closely together at The Riverside before he was fired as Boro boss in March.

Now they are set to team up again after Monk, 38, quit because he felt the move for Orta showed a lack of commitment to him from Radrizzani.
