Argentine great Carlos Tevez admits he was close to Wayne Rooney at Manchester United.

Tevez says he could identify with the current Derby County player-coach when he first joined United.

He told TyC Sports: "I started to make good waves with Rooney. I identified a lot with him by the place where he left, which was a tough area of Liverpool.

"He always fought for the ball as if it were the last, he played like me."

Tevez also revealed, "In the training centre of United all appear with a Ferrari or a Lamborghini, even the worst has one. I went with the Audi the club gives you and they laughed at me. They loaded me with their comments as if I went with a Fiat600.

"Then that crazy Rooney went and gave me his Lamborghini. He gave it to me!"
