Wigan Athletic are closing in on the appointment of Mike Phelan as their new manager.
The Latics parted ways with Owen Coyle on Monday, on the back of three straight losses, and have already moved for former Manchester United assistant Phelan.
Goal.com suggests that the 51-year old, who worked so closely with Sir Alex Ferguson, has held talks with Wigan chairman Dave Whelan and could be confirmed as Latics boss by the end of the week.
