Former Manchester United fullback Arthur Albiston has welcomed the arrival of Luke Shaw from Southampton.
Albiston, who performed on the left-hand side of the Reds' defence with distinction in the 1970s and 1980s, is in little doubt the Shaw deal is shrewd business by the club after analysing the youngster's performances for the Saints and England.
"Obviously, he's a great addition to the squad," the Scot informed MUTV. "He's a top-quality player. We've seen that in the last couple of seasons since he broke into the Southampton team at such a young age. Now he's taken it a step further by getting into the England squad and playing in the team.
"Some people might have argued they didn't want to take him but it was a fantastic experience to go to the World Cup at that age. I'd like to think he'll be playing in future World Cups and European Championships for his country. More importantly, I want to see him playing here at United for the next 10 years.
"He's only a baby in terms of league experience. But he's shown he can handle it by playing in the Premier League with no problem at all. He has fantastic physique about him."
