Former Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo cannot captain Boca Juniors for a month.

The Argentine international has always been known for his fiery temper on the field.

The centre-back was sent off in the latter stages of a South American club derby between Boca Juniors and bitter rivals River Plate.

Part of the sanction for his dismissal, which came from the Argentina Football Association, is that he cannot wear his club side's armband for a month.

According to their statement after a disciplinary meeting, the AFA stated: "Suspended for one game and is disabled for the term of one month to exercise the position of team captain."

Rojo had stated after his red card post-game:"It doesn't bother me. The classics are like that, gets a little too much. I made three fouls in the whole game, we didn't make as many fouls, we made some tactical fouls, it's not that we had an aggressive game or strange things. We are calm with the things we did, how we faced the game and how we won it."
