Former Manchester City and Southampton star Eyal Berkovic wants the Israel national team job.

The former midfielder has no coaching experience but is the players' preferred choice for the job.

Berkovic, 37, said: "I set myself a target five months ago to be the coach of Israel and I will be.

"I have inspiration, freshness, chutzpah, sexy football, attacking play and interaction with the players - the only thing I don't have is experience as a coach.

"The whole country wants me. No, actually only about 90 per cent."
