Jonathan Woodgate has been appointed as a first-team coach at Middlesbrough.
The 37-year-old former Boro defender, who finished up his playing career at the Riverside Stadium in May last year, has taken a job in Steve Agnew's coaching staff for the remainder of the Premier League season.
Former Leeds United, Real Madrid, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur centre-back Woodgate replaces Carlos Cachada who was a part of Aitor Karanka's recently disbanded coaching setup.
Woodgate joins Joe Jordan and Paul Jenkins under Agnew at his hometown club.
"Jonathan is someone who we know very well, and who in turn knows this club inside and out," Agnew told the club's official website.
"He brings a wealth of experience from the highest level of the game, and he's a fantastic character.
"We're delighted to have him on board."
